Email asks you to confirm/update/verify your account data at Amazon.com by visiting the given link. You will be taken to a spoof website where your details will be captured for the phishers.
- Amazon.com never send their users emails requesting personal details in this way.
-
The spoof website this email links to was not online at time of this report, but variations of the scam which link to working websites are bound to exist, so be wary! The website may have been taken down or disabled by the hosts, but quite often these websites are hosted on the personal computer of the phishers, so may only be online at certain times.
-
The REAL URL of the spoof website looks nothing like the actual Amazon.com URL.

"Greetings from Amazon Payments."
|
Dear customer,
Greetings from Amazon Payments. This is a note to let you know that we
are having difficulty verifying some of your credit card information.
The institution that issued your credit card has not yet authorized
its use.
There is no reason to believe anything is amiss with your credit card.
Errors such as this are usually the result of a small detail in the
name, expiration date, or ZIP code information you submitted not
matching the records at the credit card institution. We suggest that
you contact the institution to verify your account information.
Once confirmed, please follow the link below to resubmit your credit
card information. We recommend using the "Sign In "option
when prompted : click here
Thank you for selling at Amazon.com.
