Comments:
  • Email asks you to confirm/update/verify your account data at eBay by visiting the given link. You will be taken to a spoof website where your details will be captured for the phishers.

  • eBay never send their users emails requesting personal details in this way.

  • The REAL URL of the spoof website is hidden by a hyperlinked image in the body of the email. This is a technique used to get past spam filters that can only read normal text.

  • The REAL URL of the spoof website has been chosen to look very similar to the actual eBay URL. Do not be fooled!

Question from laura_usc

I am very embarassed to be contacting you about a very shamefull situation for me.
Let me explain to you what happened. You see I have a 16 years young daughter and she is just learning about the whole internet/eBay experience. I gave her access to my eBay account and she was trying to buy herself a nice laptop. I promised her I would give her the money to buy the computer. Now the thing is she told me she was about to close a transaction with you for a Sony Vaio laptop that you would sell to her for 1000USD and she came to me to ask for this amount. And now I come to the real shamefull part, I think the laptop she was buying from you is for the amount of 500USD, not 1000USD and she is trying to get the other 500USD for herself. Please confirm to me the amount for the laptop, if you need my phone number to call me and I will pick up the charges for the conversation, or just e-mail me. Please help me in this m atter because this is a pretty seriuos thing with my daughter and I don't want her to get a bad education.
Thank's in advance for your help. Laura
