Email asks you to confirm/update/verify your account data at Charter One by visiting the given link. You will be taken to a spoof website where your details will be captured for the phishers.
- Charter One never send their users emails requesting personal details in this way.
-
The spoof website this email links to was not online at time of this report, but variations of the scam which link to working websites are bound to exist, so be wary! The website may have been taken down or disabled by the hosts, but quite often these websites are hosted on the personal computer of the phishers, so may only be online at certain times.
-
The REAL URL of the spoof website has been chosen to look very similar to the actual Charter One URL. Do not be fooled!

"Sorry for disturbing you, but we have to check your ATM card details."
|
Dear Charter One Customer,
Sorry for disturbing you, but we have to check your ATM card details.
The management of our bank has made a decision to switch to new transfers security methods because of frequent fraudulent operations. The new updated technologies will ensure the security of your payments through our bank. As both software and hardware will be updated, some personal data will be lost inevitably. In order to restore all information, necessary for new convenient and safe high-quality level of service to handle your ATM card, please confirm your personal details:

Looking forward to your understanding,
Charter One Customer Support.
