eBay - Upgrade Account Information - Email Scam
3rd February 2004
This incredibly poorly worded eBay email is
a forgery and a scam ...
This spoof email arrives in HTML
text format with a link (see images below)
to a forged eBay web page.
The forged eBay page contains a lengthy form requiring
a multitude of personal information which is then relayed to the scammers
via a form to mail script and on to a vali.biz email
address (vali@vali.biz). The forged eBay web poage is located
at http://www.team-ebay.com/ebay.html (no attempts made to disguise this
URL). The domain
team-ebay.com was clearly created in an attempt to add authenticity to this scam.
It is registered to an individual in Great Britain and is located within
a
concentric.net's user's web space.
If you have received this email, please remember that
it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later
date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake
page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one
of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one
and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from
the same apparent sender.
Take a good look at the
following images, because this
email scam may be coming to an inbox near you! |
