eBay Regular Maintenance - Spoof Email Phishing Scam

Scammers imply regular maintenance at eBay to convince you to go to a fake eBay web site...

This Phishing Scam comprises a spoof eBay email (see image below) and a forged eBay web site which aims to convince users to give up their personal and financial information.

The button link in the email leads you to www.electronic-request.com where your browser has its address bar closed (to conceal the location of the fake eBay pages), and you are presented with a short form to provide your eBay and email user names and passwords.

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
