to a bogus eBay domain ... This
spoof eBay email (see image below) is in HTML format (although it does look
like a text only email in order add a sense of authenticity to the link text).
The link in the email has been disguised using HTML code and to the undiscerning
eye, it looks like a genuine eBay link from the status bar. The domain is named
h-ebay.com, which has nothing to do with eBay.com at all, but resolves to Yahoo
Inc.'s web space.
Use of like sounding or looking domains is fairly common place,
and is sometimes referred to as domain squatting. The bogus content at signin.h-ebay.com
has already been removed, so we do not have a snapshot of the page(s) at this
time, but we expect that the domain may well be used again for another phishing
scam.
Web users should always be aware of the true location of any
web page that they are viewing. If you have received this email, please remember that it is very
common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly
different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different
provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common
place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first,
