If you fall for this spoof email ..... well, perhaps you shouldn't be surfing the net? ...

We really do hope that anyone who receives this spoof Citibank email does not fall for it - it contains such poor spelling and grammar that its almost illegible!

The bogus content is carefully crafted though, and scripts are used to open the genuine citibank.com home page (US) and another pop-up style window in front of it for you to enter account data. The 'pop up' window contains a forged citibank form and any data entered would be relayed to the perpetrators via a from to mail script and straight into their inboxe(s).

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
