" Dear eBay User,
Because of the repeated tryes of viruses and hackers attacks
on our auctions website, the ebay technic staff have developed a special security
program for the your eBay accounts. "...
If the poor spelling doesn't give this spoof email away (see
image below), then good common sense should. The only sure way to avoid falling
victim to a possible spoof email is not to use links in the email full stop.
Instead, always enter the URL manually and directly into your browser's address
bar.
The bogus link will take you to a forged ebay sign in page who's
URL is http://www.log328321in.home.ro..... which resolves to a Romanian hosting
provider. The sign in page will forward any data submitted to the perpetrators
via a third party form to mail service, while ytou arrrive at a bogus 'thank
you' page, probably none the wiser.
If you have received this email, please remember that it is very
common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly
different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different
provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common
place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first,
although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
