spoof eBay email (see image below) will lead your browser to a bogus web page
which attempts to use a fake security certificate. If you have set your browser
security settings to check security certificates, you should see a notice warning
you of the invalidity of the certificate that the bogus web content is attempting
to use (see image below).
If you proceed with the certificate or do not have the correct
security settings in your browser, you will arrive at a lengthy but fake eBay
form (see image below).
If you have received this email, please remember that it is very
common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly
different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different
provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common
place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first,
