Competition to win a Mercedes-Benz CLK is a phishing scam which aims to steal your eBay log in details...

This spoofed email (see image below) purporting to be from eBay is a hoax, there is no Mercedes Benz CLK to be won, but there is a forged eBay sign in page, which the link in the email will send you to in order to claim this phoney prize, and which will capture data submitted.

The URL of the forged eBay page should give the game away ... http://www.cgi-user.us/secure-past/... which resolves to a Yahoo Inc. users' web space.

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
