eBay Reminder : Email regarding pre-indefinitely suspended from eBay #1
Format

Method

A fairly authentic looking email invites you to update your credit card details via the link to 'EBay'. Notice the bad grammer and poor spelling in places. The link in the email is disguised HTML, leading to bogus web content, where login details are requested from an authentic looking EBay form. (see image below) - the submitted form data is then captured by a local script.

1. The link in the email is disguised using HTML code, and the link text is not represetative of where you will arrive if you use that link.

2. The page the link goes to looks real but in fact is a spoof and captures the details you enter with a local script.

" eBay needs a correct information from you "...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
