WARNINGS

1. The spoof email pretends to be from US Bank and requests verification of account details. Details are captured from the webpage and forwarded to a local script.

2. US Bank NEVER send out emails requesting details from account holders.

3. URL of spoof content is very obviously not US Bank - keep your eyes open and its easy to spot!

4. Spoof website uses 'three stage' process to request entry of details. Unusal technique and very authentic looking.

 

" Dear U.S. Bank Account Holder ! We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your U.S Bank account from a foreign IP address and we have reasons to believe that your account was hijacked by a third party without your authorization."...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.

We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your U.S Bank account from a foreign IP address and we have reasons to believe that your account was hijacked by a third party without your authorization.

If you recently accessed your account while traveling, the unusual log in attempts may have been initiated by you.
However, if you are the rightful holder of the account, click on the link below, and updates your account now.

The log in attempt was made from:
IP address: 205.188.209.166
ISP host: cache-dq04.proxy.aol.com

If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to temporally suspend your account.
