WARNINGS

1. A lottery variant of the 419 style of scam. Correspondance will simply result in requests for 'administration fees' to cover various costs, but you'll never actually get any money back!

2. SCIENTIFIC GAME PROMO LOTTERY almost certainly do not exist, and did you actually enter this lottery? An almost universal rule is that if you haven't entered a competition, you haven't won it! And even if you have the prize is likely is likely to be a fraction of that promised.

3. Notice that the sender and the 'claims agent' use free, impossible to trace web based email addresses, a little strange for a lottery company dealing in millions!

4. The email style is typical of this type of scam, blasting you with numbers and technical terms to hide its lack of real substance. Notice the reference to this being backed by Bill Gates. I've seen this a lot of times, using a well known, RICH figure to make the large sums being offered seem more plausible.

" We are pleased to inform you of the announcement today, 23th September,2004 of winners of the SCIENTIFIC GAME PROMO LOTTERY; THE NETHERLANDS / INTERNATIONAL, PROGRAMS held on 30th of  March, 2004."...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
