eBay suspended account email scam and bogus web site

This eBay hoax email scam was in distribution from 11th October 2003 and we an image of the hoax email. These are just images of the originals, so there is absolutely no code included and the links or buttons will not work. The images shown have been reduced to 80% of the original size.

The email hoax...

The email scam purports to be from eBay but, its a bit difficult to make any sensible statement on its content given the incredibly bad English. The hoax email provides a short form for you to give your credit card number and expiry date.

It would appear that the site referenced in the email's code (darkprofits.com) may have been the subject of persistent spam/scam abuse by a disgruntled user/users for some time (there are references around the internet to these activities which have apparently included drugs, fake currency and Tomahawk Missiles!)

So it is most likely not to be a fully fledged email and web page scam, but a hoax aimed at annoying the darkprofits.com site owners. This email serves as a good example of the kind of hoax email you will see in these Identity Theft and phishing scams...
