WARNINGS

1. A lottery variant of the 419 style of scam. Correspondance will simply result in requests for 'administration fees' to cover various costs, but you'll never actually get any money back!

2. UK Lottery almost certainly do not exist, and is a name chosen to sound like the (real) UK National Lottery, and did you actually enter this lottery? An almost universal rule is that if you haven't entered a competition, you haven't won it! And even if you have the prize is likely is likely to be a fraction of that promised. You'd think a financial company would actually be able to spell the word 'financial' as well!

3. Notice that the sender uses a free, web based email address. A real company would almost certainly use their own.

" We are pleased to inform you of the announcement today,18th Oct, 2004 of winners of THE UK NATIONAL LOTTERY; UNITED KINGDOM / PROGRAMS held on 6th Oct, 2004."...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
