eBay Spoof Email Hoax and Fake Web Site

This spoof eBay email was distributed on 12th September 2003 and we also have images of a spoof web page that it would have sent you to. These forged emails seek to commit the offence of Identity Theft (a common prelude to fraud crime). These are just images of the originals, so there is absolutely no code included and none of the links or buttons will now work. The images shown have been reduced 80% of the original size.

The spoof email (unfortunately, it was forwarded to us without the graphics files) states that your eBay has been suspended due to possible unauthorised activity, and it is necessary for you to update your account information. The email contains a form for you to provide your eBay and email user IDs and passwords. If you provide this information and submit it, it is relayed to the scammers with the use of form processing service provided by wish.net (which is a common process in recent spoofs) while you are sent to the genuine eBay.com home page.

Once you submit this form the information is sent on to the scammers using wish.net's web form processing service while you are automatically redirected to the genuine eBay.com home page.
