eBay Spoof email hoax and web page scam

Do eBay really have a regular update and verification of accounts? Not in this instance .....

Our site users sent this email in to us on the 15th September 2003. Its not the usual text email with a cloaked link to a fake web page, but it does have the usual display of eBay's own graphics and a short web form for you to supply your eBay user name and password. No guesses what anyone outside of eBay would want that for!

If you have received this email, report it and thenbin it, but remember that it is common for these spoof emails to be redistributed at a later date and sometimes with only slightly different content. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first.

The email suggests that your account information is incomplete or it has changed and that you need to confirm that you are the account owner by using the form supplied in the email.

If you supply that information in the form, and then submit it, the information will be captured utilising PHP script.
