In this new twist, scammers are preying on the
security The Spoof Email... This hoax email apparently came from CustomerSupport@ebay.com, but this is spoofed (forged by altering the header information). And its suggestion that there have been a number of attempts to access your account from a 'foreign IP' address are untrue. These kinds of email scams usually have a cloaked link (one which is disguised to read as if it is a link to a genuine eBay page - see part 3 of our article on disguised links in emails). This link actually sends your browser to the link address that you see, thereby relying on the wording within the link to suggest authenticity, but it points to a fake eBay page and one which aims to steal your personal and financial information.
